Emma Schuring

Senior Associate

Emma is a brand and communications specialist with international experience across brand, PR, and communications for corporate, non-profit, and philanthropic organisations.

Working in Sweden for Houdini Sportswear, she was responsible for social media, PR, and storytelling, making sustainability communications and environmental campaigns engaging and accessible to a wide variety of audiences. She designed and delivered a community-led campaign focussed on challenging overconsumption through gamification, and has worked with Indigenous Rights activists to amplify their stories to affect change.

Before joining Purpose Union, Emma led brand and communications at social impact agencies The Social Innovation Partnership and Renaisi, supporting clients to communicate their impact and journeys towards systemic change. A keen advocate for community power, she led the communications for a health equality programme funded by Impact on Urban Health and Wellcome Trust, centring lived experience and applying participatory approaches to ensure that people at the heart of an issue are meaningfully involved in designing the solutions.

Originally from the Netherlands, Emma was raised bilingually and speaks five European languages. She’s previously facilitated climate change education in primary schools, and written and illustrated a children’s book on the nuance of sustainability in the fashion industry.
